The Step Pyramid of Djoser is a monumental tomb structure built in the Saqqara region of Egypt during the Old Kingdom period.

Traditionally associated with the vizier and architect Imhotep, this structure, with its superimposed stepped layers, is considered one of the first large-scale monuments built of stone in Egypt. The Step Pyramid is regarded as the precursor of the classic smooth-faced pyramids built in later periods.
