This is the battle that took place in 272 near Emesa (Homs), in present-day Syria, between the Roman Emperor Aurelian and the forces of the Palmyrene Queen Zenobia.

Following this engagement, which was won by the Roman army, it advanced toward Palmyra and carried forward the process of suppressing Zenobia's revolt. The event is one of the important stages in Aurelian's efforts to reunify the fragmented empire and in the end of Palmyrene dominance in the east.
