334 BCE · Çanakkale Boğazı · conquest

Alexander the Great's eastern campaign was a large-scale military operation launched by the Macedonian king against the Persian Empire.

Beginning in Anatolia, Alexander advanced through Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Iran as far as the borders of India. These campaigns led to the collapse of the Achaemenid Empire and laid the foundations of the Hellenistic age, in which Greek culture merged with the cultures of the East; they radically changed the political map of the ancient world.
