Korean War Armistice

1953 CE · Kore · war

The Korean Armistice Agreement is the truce agreement signed in July 1953 that ended the active hostilities in the Korean War, which had begun in 1950.

With the armistice signed at Panmunjom, a demilitarized zone was established between the parties and the front line was fixed roughly around the 38th parallel. Because the agreement did not constitute a formal peace treaty, the technical state of war between the two Koreas continued to exist legally in the following years.
