Third Partition of Poland

1795 CE · Lehistan · political

The Third Partition of Poland was carried out in 1795 among Russia, Prussia, and Austria.

With this partition, the remaining territories of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, already reduced by the two previous partitions, were also divided, and the country was erased from the map as an independent state. The disappearance of Poland prepared the ground for a longing for independence and for various uprising movements that would last for about a century.
