Establishment of the Weimar Republic

It takes its name from the city of Weimar, where the new constitution was drafted. The new regime was born under the burden of the defeat in the war and the harsh conditions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. The republic initially endured a turbulent period marked by political uprisings and high inflation. After a relatively stable period, it was shaken by the crisis of 1929 and came to an end in the early 1930s.
