1903 CE · ABD · invention

On 17 December 1903, the American brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright carried out a manned flight with a heavier-than-air, powered, and controllable aircraft near Kitty Hawk in the state of North Carolina, USA.

The first flight, made with the aircraft named 'Flyer', lasted only a few seconds; longer flights were also made on the same day. At the foundation of the achievement lay the wing-warping technique they had developed for control. This flight is regarded as the beginning of modern aviation.
